Mini Concert of the Week

With another Lockdown hitting us, I thought we might need a little more than a track to lift our spirits this week, so my recommended listening / viewing this week, is one of NPR's "Tiny Desk" concerts.

From a boat somewhere on the Thames the wonderful Nubya Garcia plays some of her latest material.

From BBC 4

Basie & Blue Note -  Friday 6th November @ 9pm

On iPlayer for the next 25 days - Blue Note Records: Beyond the Notes.

Monday 26th October

Lockdown Track of the Week.

As I failed to upload a track last week this week you get two.

Something long from the Horace Silver Quintet 1968 suggested by Ron,

Song For My Father

Like now 1968 was a year of trouble and protest, so I have paired the above with something very much for these times from Wynton Marsalis

The Ultimate Litmus ft. Wynton Marsalis

Max De Aloe Quartet ‎– Just For One Day

Title track from their new album of music inspired by David Bowie.

Monday 28th September

 Lockdown Track of the Week

As we can no longer meet this term I thought it would be a good idea to share a track with you all each Monday until we can meet face to face once more.

This week I have chosen a track from Japanese trumpeter Takuya Kuroda with vocals by José James

 Everybody Loves The Sunshine

Announcement

Due to Covid 19 restrictions there will be no Autumn term program this year, but we do plan to run the course starting with the Spring on the 11th January 2021. To make up for the loss of the Autumn term we will also be running Summer term program.

Thursday, 12th March

Important Announcement

Due to the Covid-19 situation the U3AC have today made the decision to end the Spring term early.

There will be no U3AC classes or activities, either in Bridge Street, external venues, members' homes or even in the open air after this date.

Our live session from Dan Forshaw this coming Monday, has therefore had to be cancelled.

Dan does have a gig at Hot Numbers (Gwydir Street) on Friday night at 7:30pm, so if you can please try get along to that to overcome the disappointment of missing on Monday.

Hopefully normality will be restored and JOAMA by the Autumn term, and we can all meet up again on Monday 5th October.
